Ryan Jimenez.jpgRyan Jimenez was a Basha High wrestler from 2004 to 2008. He and his twin brother, Tyler, earned local notoriety for both winning state titles their senior year of high school. A four year varsity member, Ryan was considered the more talented of the twins. Jimenez endured a challenging freshman season at the varsity level. His coach offered him a chance to wrestle at the JV level and gain some success, but Jimenez refused and continued as a varsity wrestler. His dogged determination paid off. Because he wrestled at a young age on the varsity team, Jimenez learned quickly how hard he would have to work to find success. Wrestling in the 152 lbs class, Jimenez finished in 3rd place his junior year at states. He then put together a senior year for the ages. He ripped through his competitors, recording a perfect 40-0 record. He was the 2008 state champion in the 152 lbs weight class, the icing on the cake to a truly historic season. A wrestler admired for his work ethic and determination, Ryan Jimenez finished his career as one of the best wrestlers Basha will ever see, and as a key part of one of the valley's greatest wrestling stories.
